Friday October 18, vs Valparaiso
On Friday night, the Racers went head to head against Valparaiso, losing 3-1. This loss was the third consecutive for the team and the first loss at home this year, leaving the Racers at sixth place in the conference.
Saturday October 19, vs UIC
On Saturday night, the Racers ended their three game losing streak, beating UIC 3-1. This win puts the Racers back at fifth place in conference standings.
Both teams got off to a slow start with a back and forth first set, but the Racers were able to hold out and win the first set 26-24. Murray State started building momentum in the second set, securing a 25-20 win. UIC answered in the third set, rarely missing blocks or digs, and won handily 25-17. The Racers regrouped during the break and came out on fire in the fourth set, holding the lead the lead the entire set and winning 25-19.
The team will be hitting the road to play Missouri State on Friday, October 25, then Southern Illinois on Saturday, October 26.
The Racers next home match will be on November 1, at 6 p.m. facing off against Northern Iowa.
