The Murray State women’s cross country team placed fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship race on Friday, Oct. 31, at Angel Mounds State Park in Evansville, Indiana.
Despite being projected to finish sixth in the conference, the Racers managed to earn their best finish since joining the MVC in 2022.
Senior Ruth Kimutai and freshman Molly Robertson each broke the program’s 6K record that was set by Vallery Korir when she ran a 21:24 at 2016 NCAA Regional in Terre Haute, Indiana.
After running a 21:18, Kimutai became Murray State’s first All-MVC cross country runner and placed 10th overall. Both Robertson and Liz Smith were recognized as MVC Honorable Mentions and placed 11th and 12th respectively.
Smith, Jocelyn Host, Abigail Crask and Ainsley Smith all ran personal bests.
The Racers will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship on Friday, Nov. 14.
