Senior forward Mary Hardy and senior defender Megan Wilson earned top honors from the Missouri Valley Conference on Wednesday.
Hardy was named MVC Player of the Year, while Wilson was named Defensive Player of the Year. These two honors headline a program-record tying 10 conference awards.
Hardy is the first Racer to win the Player of the Year award. She was also named to the All-MVC First Team for the third straight season. That makes her the fourth player in program history to be named First Team All-Conference three years in a row. Rebekah Clay (2006-08), Sophie Hargreaves (2009-11) and Harriett Withers (2015-17) are the others.
Wilson became the third Racer to win Defensive Player of the Year, and the first since Izzy Heckman did it in 2020. She was also named First Team All-MVC.
Sophomore forward Breece Bass earned a spot on the First Team All-MVC after leading the conference in total shots taken (60) and shots per game (3.33). This was the third MVC honor she has received.
Junior goalkeeper Griselda Revelorio and freshman midfielder Katie Donoghue were named to the All-MVC Second Team. They are the first two to earn Second Team All-MVC honors. Revelorio finished tied for second in the conference in shutouts (6) and second in saves per match (4.33).
Donoghue also earned an MVC All-Freshman team nod. She recorded two goals and two assists in her freshman season, with both goals being game winners. Donoghue is joined on the All-Freshman team by midfielder/defender Ava Wilson.
Wilson finished with a goal and an assist and started in eight of the 16 games she played in. Her lone goal was the game-winner against Evansville, which started the Racers five-game winning streak to finish the regular season.
Last but not least, the Murray State coaching staff was named MVC Coaching Staff of the Year. The coaching staff consists of head coach Matt Lodge, assistant coach Brad Wilson and goalkeeper coach Emily Kelly. Lodge is now the first head coach to win this award in both the OVC and MVC.
“I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by hard-working, intelligent coaches that make my job easy,” Lodge said to GoRacers.com. “Brad’s knowledge of the game is unmatched and he connects with players so well. Emily has been integral in the development of our goalkeepers and is one of the brightest GK coaches not only in the MVC but in the nation. I also want to recognize our trainer, Jess Jocelyn. We would not have had the success this season if we did not have her keeping our players healthy and ready to play.”
