The Murray State rifle team overcame the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range in Murray, Kentucky. The team earned six of the top 10 spots, ultimately outshooting the Gamecocks 4,714-4,706.
Sophomore Carlotta Salafia took first overall with a 590 in smallbore and a 599 in air rifle, totaling for an aggregate of 1,189. Freshman Lea Soule earned fourth place with an aggregate of 1,177, and fellow freshman Abby Ballard scored a 1,174 aggregate. Junior Caroline Martin placed sixth, sophomore Mallory Johnson took ninth and freshman Ainsley McFarland rounded out the top 10 placing 10th individually.
The Racers return to the range with a double-header in Columbus, Ohio. Murray State will compete at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, against the Ohio State Buckeyes, and at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, against UTEP.
