The Murray State Track and Field team set two school records, took home two first place achievements and grabbed multiple other top finishes in the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee, while a few Racers competed in Carbondale, Illinois, at the SIU Don DeNoon Invitational. This was the Racers’ last weekend of indoor competition before participating in the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships in Chicago.
The 4×400 meter relay team, consisting of Kayla Bell, Simone Joseph, Chelby Melvin and Cheyenne Melvin, set the school record for the third time this season with a time of 3:35.54. This achievement brought them to first place in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Racers grabbed both first and second place in the 800 meter run, Bell taking first with a Murray State record of 2:02.99, and Cheyenne Melvin finishing just after with a time of 2:06.69, which broke Bell’s former record.
