Murray State Police officers responded to gunfire outside Tap 216 early Saturday morning.
According to an email by the Murray Police Department, officers responded to an altercation involving multiple people at Tap 216. The altercation moved outside where, according to a press release by the Murray Police Department, multiple gunshots were fired towards a vehicle around 2:03 a.m. No one is currently believed to have been injured in the shooting, and Murray State Police say there is no threat to campus security.
“Based on the information available at this time, the incident is believed to be isolated and involved only the individuals directly associated, stemming from an argument,” Murray State Police’s email read. “There is no indication of an ongoing threat to the campus community.”
The incident is still under investigation by the Murray Police Department. The suspect is described as wearing a black hoodie, camo shorts and having dreadlocks.
Murray State Police directed students to safety tips including not walking alone at night and walking in well-lit areas, being aware of your surroundings and reporting any suspicious activity or individuals. Students on campus can also use the Safety Escort service on the LiveSafe app.
