The Murray State women’s golf team came in fourth out of nine and junior Patti Patterson took home second place in the team’s fall opener in The Total Athlete Collegiate at the Country Club of the North in Xenia, Ohio on Sept. 8-9.
Only two shots from first place, Patterson scored 72-70-76=218 in the two-day event, and sophomore Tina von Arx brought home sixth place with scores of 71-71-79=222. The team shot scores of 297-293-312=902.
The Racers will return to the green Sept. 15-16 at The Velvet, hosted by the Country Club of Paducah, Kentucky. The event is named after Murray State Hall of Famer, Coach Velvet Milkman, who is the founder of Murray State’s women’s golf program and led it from 1993-2022, when current head coach Phillip Nelson took over. Milkman led her teams to 12 Ohio Valley Conference championships and seven NCAA Regional tournaments.
