Brooklyn Williams, executive vice president, announced the dates of the Murray Madness event, Student Government Association’s 90th birthday and the Ms. MSU Scholarship Pageant.
On March 11, SGA will hold Murray Madness, an event based on March Madness.
Starting at 10 a.m., a giveaway will be conducted for Murray State metal koozies, transitioning to navy dry-fit long sleeve t-shirts at 11 a.m. Finally, at 12 p.m., SGA will give out backpack coolers. No more giveaways will be held should they sell out of stock. A DJ has also been booked for the venue.
On March 24, SGA’s 90th birthday will be held in the Rocking Chair Lounge at the Curris Center. Williams said desserts will be served along with a giveaway for iced coffee cups. Dunker will also be present to have pictures taken.
The Ms. MSU Scholarship Pageant will take place on March 28. The applicants for the event applied during the fall 2025 semester and underwent interviews from judges to be selected as finalists. Fifteen contestants and two alternates are to compete in the Lovett Auditorium. The winner will receive a scholarship and represent the University in the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival.
Paul Twigg, a provost finalist candidate in the University’s second search, spoke at the beginning of the Student Senate meeting. Twigg introduced himself and expressed his wish to return to Murray State University.
“I came here from Nebraska, believe it or not, where I worked at a university like this,” Twigg said. “And it’s my privilege to come by here and say hi, and I wanted to take advantage of it since I was here, and maybe I’ll get to come back and visit you in an official capacity someday.”
