UPDATE: Power has been restored to the academic side of campus, according to an email sent to the campus community at 5:06 p.m.
Classes and campus operations will resume Wednesday.
Curris Center dining options are closed for the remainder of Tuesday and will re-open at their normal times tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 19.
Winslow Dining Hall and Fast Track were unaffected by this afternoon’s power outage and will have normal operating hours Tuesday night.
Tuesday’s power outage was caused by damaged electical cables, and the damage occurred due to a leak in the steam tunnel, according to an email from campus officials.
“As a result, we are preparing for a power outage this afternoon (Tuesday, November 18) starting at 3:30 p.m. for Facilities Management to assess the situation,” the email said. “The Murray main campus will close at 3:30 p.m. this afternoon, November 18. This includes both on-campus and online instruction, as well as campus operations, for the remainder of the day and evening. Winslow Dining Hall and all residential housing are unaffected. The men’s basketball game this evening at the CFSB Center will take place as planned … Buildings expected to be impacted by the power outage include: Curris, Blackburn, Applied Science, Visual Arts, Lovett, Fine Arts, Doyle Fine Arts, Pogue, Lowry, Wilson, Sparks, Wrather, Business, Wells, Faculty, Central Plant, and Howton Agricultural Engineering Building.”
