New pathways and newly elected freshman senators were sworn into their positions during this week’s Student Government Association meeting on Sept. 24.
SGA President Ali Khatib announced, on behalf Executive Director of Auxiliary Services David Looney, the stairwell connecting Chick-Fil-A and the second floor of the Curris Center will be restored some time this week. Sept. 25 was given as a tentative date.
“Student Government requested the stairwell between Chick-fil-A and T-Room be opened to allow for traffic movement between the two dining rooms,” Looney said in an email. “The pathway is now available between the dining rooms effective (Sept. 25) during normal T-Room business hours.”
Khatib also mentioned that there have been plans made for the construction of a new dining hall. It is unclear whether this will replace Winslow Dining Hall, or serve as an addition to the building. No formal dates have been given, as this project is still early in development.
Parker Johnson and Hannah Murphy, winners of last week’s freshman senator election, took their vows and were officially inducted into the Student Senate. They will serve as co-chairs for the Freshman Council, along with representing the needs of freshmen during legislative discourse.
