Lawrent Rice, a sophomore guard for the men’s basketball team, was arrested on Oct. 27.
Rice was arrested on charges of 4th degree dating violence, 1st degree strangulation and 1st degree criminal mischief. He was booked at 7:31 p.m. at the Calloway County Jail. His arraignment is set for 9 a.m. on Nov. 19 in the Calloway County District Court.
Murray State Athletics released the following statement.
“Sophomore guard Lawrent Rice is no longer a member of the Murray State Men’s Basketball program. The Department of Athletics will have no further comment on the matter.”
This happened just one week from the Racers’ home opener against Bethel on Nov. 4.
