Murray State soccer is winless in Missouri Valley Conference play and look to finally get a full three points when they host the Indiana State Sycamores.
The Sycamores are currently eighth in the MVC standings with a record of 2-3-2 in conference play and an overall record of 7-5-4.
Murray State’s overall record against Indiana State is 3-4-2 with the latest result against the Sycamores being a 1-1 draw in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Oct. 22, 2023.
The last time the two sides played at Cutchin Field was Sept. 29, 2022, which saw the Racers win 3-1.
Indiana State has relied on the attacking play of senior Mackenzie Kent to manufacture goals for them. She leads the team with five goals on the season and also has an assist. Speaking of assists, graduate Wimberley Wright has a team-high five assists on the season, though she hasn’t bagged an assist since Aug. 29.
Between the sticks for the Sycamores is graduate Maddie Alexander. She currently leads in three of the four goalkeeper stat categories in the MVC: saves, saves per game and shutouts. In 16 games, she has 94 saves with a save percentage of .879 and averages 5.88 saves per game while only allowing 13 goals past her on the entire season. Her game-high for saves was 16 against Drake on Oct. 3.
Indiana State will make their fifth-ever visit to Cutchin Field, when the two teams play in the penultimate home game of the Racers 25th season on Thursday,Oct. 17, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
