Despite taking a 2-0 match lead, Murray State would lose three straight sets to Bradley on Sept. 28.
The Racers won the first set 25-20 and quelled a Bradley comeback to take the second set 30-28. Bradley battled back in the third set after a 9-3 scoring run to win 26-24. A tightly contested fourth set saw the Braves tie the match after winning the set 25-22. After coming back from down 5-0, the Racers pushed hard to fight off the reverse sweep but to no avail. A service ace by Bradley saw the Braves complete the reverse sweep, winning the set 16-14.
Ella Vogel shined for the Racers with 19 kills, Lily Burnett set a new career-high with 16 kills, Federica Nuccio had 20 digs to go along with 11 kills, Bailey DeMeir tallied 45 assists for her fifth 40 assist match of the season and Dahlia Miller’s 34 digs was a game-high.
Murray State is 1-1 in MVC play after the first weekend and 6-5 overall for the season.
The next matches for the Racers take place at Racer Arena when they host the Indiana State Sycamores on Friday, Oct 4, and the Evansville Aces on Saturday, Oct. 5.
