Last week, the Racers hosted The Buddy Championship at their home course, Miller Memorial. The Buddy is hosted in honor of Murray State Hall of Famer, Coach Buddy Hewitt. Hewitt founded the men’s golf team at Murray State in 1961 and lead the program for over four decades.
The Racers won the tournament after recording team scores of 276-280 on Monday, giving the team a nine shot lead, and a 278 on Tuesday for a total of 834, beating out second place Austin Peay by five shots. Three of the Racers placed in the top ten individually with Kamaren Cunningham securing a third place finish with a total of 206 (7 under par), Jay Nimmo tying for fourth, and Rocco Zakutney tying for seventh.
