The point system for the Homecoming decoration contest was presented at the Residential College Association meeting on Monday.
Residential colleges have the opportunity to win up to 420 total spirit points if they decorate their lobby. Judges will be looking for creativity, effort, neatness, use of space, use of resources, spirit, and connection to the theme. Any theme can be chosen.
The judging will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 18. Residential colleges can begin decorating at any time and leave it up for as long as they wish. Casey Rowe, adviser, said whoever puts up the decorations must take them down.
All decorations must meet the standards of safety set by the Murray State departments of Housing/Residence Life and the fire marshal. Representatives from each residential college have access to the full list of standards.

Clothing swap to support transgender students is underway
A new initiative to support the University’s transgender students was also introduced at the meeting Monday night.
The program is for transgender students to have access to the correct gender affirming clothes without spending a fortune. Students can donate old clothing that will become available to the people of the transgender community. Each residential college was provided with flyers and a box to display within their building. Students are encouraged to drop off any unused clothes in the boxes as long as they are still in good condition.
More information can be found in your residential college.
