President Bob Jackson announced that the University will be lifting its face mask requirement for all buildings and locations on campus on Monday, Feb. 28.

Jackson said the requirement was lifted because of the decline in COVID-19 case counts as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s updated masking guidelines.

“Since the start of the pandemic, Murray State has adhered to CDC guidelines, as well as guidance provided by the Calloway County Health Department and other state and local healthcare officials,” Jackson said in an email to students, faculty and staff.

The updated CDC guidance included a “Know Your COVID-19 Community Level” tool to help communities decide what guidance is most relevant to their situation.

As of today, Calloway County is in the “yellow” zone.

Next week’s publication will feature a more extensive article on the mask requirement.
