Murray State’s track and field team closed out the indoor season last weekend with a fourth-place finish at the OVC Indoor Championship at Eastern Illinois University.

Jewel Wagner, a sophomore thrower, had a record-setting weekend at the OVC Championship. Wagner set two new personal records in the shot put and the weight throw. Wagner set her new personal record in shot put with a mark of 13.15 meters.
Wagner’s weight throw traveled 16.55 meters to set her new personal record.

Junior hurdler Jabreuna Brimlett and Alison Woerner, a freshman jumper, both set new season bests in the long jump with jumps at 5.69 and 5.63 meters, respectively.
Aubrey Main, a junior high jumper, has continued her outstanding season, setting a new personal record in the pentathlon with an overall score of 3418. Main’s record setting score was good enough for third place in the event.

Main’s score in the pentathlon this past weekend was also good enough for the fourth-highest score in Murray State track and field history.

Kiesler has noticed Main’s accomplishments this season, giving her high praise.

“She is one of those people that has taken her lumps in learning all of the events,” Kiesler said. “When she got here, she didn’t hurdle and she didn’t long jump. She’s done very well under coach [Kelsey] Riggins”

Kiesler is excited for Main’s future with the program.

“She’s got a long way to go as well, it’ll be fun to watch her grow in the next year and a half,” Kiesler said.

“We did a great job at the OVC Championship; we competed well and it showed in how we performed,” Kiesler said. “It means a lot to me and the team to finish in the top-five; they put it on the line and did this for each other.”

Murray State will have a two week break as they switch gears from indoor meets to outdoors. The Racers’ next meet is March 16, for the Margaret Simmons Invitational at Murray State.
