On July 23, the Kentucky Academy of Technology Education (KATE) at Murray State will hold a KYGoDigital Summer Tour Event.

The event, which will be held at Murray State’s KATE, is one of many across the state. It will focus on how educators can use educational apps, games and other technologies to improve student learning.

Jennifer Earls, Director of the Murray State KATE, said the program is beneficial for P12 teachers in the area of professional development.

“This is the third year we’ve had KYGoDigital at Murray State,” Earls said. “It’s actually a statewide initiative, and an event happens at every region in the Commonwealth. It’s a partnership, usually between the educational co-op and the KYGoDigital teachers, and they try to do them at college campuses. Really, it’s a group of teachers getting together to provide professional development for other teachers.”

Earls said KYGoDigital was all about using technology to support learning.

“It’s all about the learning, and using technology to support that,” Earls said. “It’s a day to learn about technology and how you can integrate it and use it in P12 learning, and also to bring technology into school administration.”

The KYGoDigital Summer Tour began on June 11 when it made a visit at Northern Kentucky University. The tour also made stops at Western Kentucky University on July 12 and Morehead State University on July 16.

Other upcoming Summer Tour Events include stops at Bellarmine University and the University of the Cumberlands on July 30.
P12 teachers wanting to learn more about using technology in the classroom can still register for all of the upcoming events at bit.ly/kgd2019.
