By Nov. 1, more than 1,300 Greek life members will have completed the Greek life social event policy quiz.

Kim Newbern, coordinator of Greek life & student leadership programs, said the quiz consisted of questions about the amount of social events that are allowed in one weekend, security enforcement, prerequisites and requirements for social events and attendee and capacity requirements.

Students who have not completed the quiz will not be allowed to attend social events.

Starting Nov. 5, mandatory meetings will be held for all Greek organizations. She said 90 percent of chapter members and all chapter officers must attend.

“The meeting will consist of a mock social event in order to continue to implement and inform the Greek life community of the revised social event policy,” Newbern said.

Don Robertson, vice president of Student Affairs, said the process of implementing the new policy is progressing well.

“We’re encouraged by the support and commitment shown so far by members of the Greek community toward these recently implemented changes,” Robertson said.

Looking ahead, there are components of the policy still to be implemented, like Greek ID cards.

Newbern said all active Greek life members will be required to carry a Greek ID, slated to begin in the spring semester.

She said the primary purpose of the cards is to be able to identify active members and provide them access to social events and special training.

Newbern said the policy will be reviewed again in spring 2019.
