Meet the Racers started four years ago when Murray State head football coach Chris Hatcher came to town. The event has grown exponentially since then. Nearly 100 children showed up Saturday to Roy Stewart Stadium for a chance to spend a few hours with the team.
After tossing small footballs and playing around with the players during registration, the children were divided into six groups. Then they rotated around the field to six stations, where they all took turns running drills with the team.
The heat did not stop the children or the Racers from having fun and sharing many laughs with each other. Hatcher said he is not sure if his team or the children had more fun.
After the drills, parents lined up with their children to get autographs from the senior. The children got posters, shirts and other Racer memorabilia signed.
