Kentucky residents have a new incentive for getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Those who have received at least their first dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, or the Johnson and Johnson one-shot vaccine are eligible for the “Shot at a Million” drawing.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced the drawing on Friday, June 4 on a Facebook livestream. The drawing is split up into two different categories.

Kentuckians that are 18-years-old or older and vaccinated are eligible for the $1 million drawing and have three chances to register for the drawing and the chance to win.

Kentuckians who are 12 to 17-years-old and vaccinated are eligible to win one of 15 full ride scholarships to a public Kentucky college, trade school and technical school. The scholarship will cover tuition, housing and books.

“This is a lifesaving and now possibly life-changing opportunity, ” Beshear said. “You can get your shot of hope and then enter for a shot at $1 million or a shot at one of 15 full scholarships, both protecting you from this deadly virus and possibly transforming your future.”

Not only is the “Shot at a Million” giving Kentuckians the opportunity to win money, but it also serves to motivate Kentuckians to get vaccinated.

To enter the $1 million or the full ride scholarship drawing go to shotatamillion.ky.gov. On the website there is a short application form that requires one’s personal information such as birthdate, contact information and current address.

Following the personal information are questions regarding vaccine location which will be verified through the Kentucky Department for Public Health.
