Murray State vs. Bradley University:
Murray State’s tennis team won its fourth match of the season when they played Bradley University on Friday, March 1.
The Racers started the day in doubles when senior Jeanne Masson and junior Claire Chang won their set 6-1. Senior Amina Hadzic and junior Sara Loncarevic won their set 6-2 to clinch the doubles point.
Sophomore Stasya Sharapova and junior Anja Loncarevic lost their doubles set, but since the Racers had already clinched the point the loss didn’t matter.
Murray State then won four of the six singles matches to claim a team victory for the day.
Chang controlled her singles match winning 6-1, 6-1. Hadzic and Masson both won their matches 6-2, 7-5. Sharapova won a very tight match 6-4, 2-6, 7-6.
Anja Loncarevic dropped her match 0-6, 3-6, and Sara Loncarevic lost her match as well 0-6, 5-7.
Murray State vs. Missouri State University:
The Racers picked up another win on the weekend when they played Missouri State University, bringing their record to 5-4 on the season.
The Racers clinched the doubles point with two wins from senior Jeanne Masson and junior Claire Chang 7-6. Senior Amina Hadzic and junior Sara Loncarevic won their match 6-3.
Sophomore Stasya Sharapova and junior Anja Loncarevic lost their set 3-6, but since the team had already won two of the three sets, the loss wouldn’t matter.
After doubles Chang got singles started for the Racers when she won 6-2, 6-1. Sharapova won her match 6-4, 7-6. Sophomore Aarja Chakraborty won her match as well 6-3, 6-4, and Sara Loncarevic and Hadzic both won their matches 6-3, 6-4.
Anja Loncarevic dropped her singles match on the day when she lost a close 2-6, 6-4, 4-6.
The Racers will play against Southern Indiana University on Saturday, March 16.
