With Valentine’s Day occurring just last week, there seems to be an increase in the number of engaged couples in the Murray area.

Elements, a local Murray shop, is hosting a bridal show 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday to give the locals ideas for weddings.

The store, located on Chestnut Street, is owned by Sarah Coursey Jones and Lauralee Latimer.

According to the website, they decided to open the store when the chain store Pier 1 went out of business.

They wanted to fill the void that Pier 1 left on the community. They did so by “expanding on the basic premise that Murray needed a great place to buy casual, fun and well-priced merchandise for the home,” the website stated.

At the store they sell plenty of things to decorate homes, apartments or dorms.

Guests can start a gift registry for their weddings at the store if they have not already.

The bridal show will feature different vendors from all over Murray.

The goal for the show is to familiarize local brides with vendors in the area.

“We host this event so brides have an opportunity to see and get to know other vendors in this area,” Latimer said.

Since the event will occur all day there is no rush to get through all of the displays and the all of the vendors that will be in the store.

“The pace of the day is very leisurely and brides are able to take all the time they need in order to gather info from all of the businesses represented,” Latimer said.

The store will be completely rearranged and all displays will have new merchandise that will be available for the brides-to-be to purchase, Latimer said. It’s a great time to peruse the selection and even pick items out for bridal registration.

Each vendor will have its own display in its own area of the store.

The brides-to-be along with any others interested, will be able to walk around a peruse the selections available.

“We will have refreshments and a free gift for all brides,” she said. “It is come and go as you please. Brides are encouraged to look around, ask questions and enjoy the day.”

By attending the event brides will be able to socialize and get to know one another.

“We decided to host an in-store bridal show as a service to our brides,” Latimer said. “It’s a wonderful time to mingle and get to know these ladies.”

The vendors for the event are as follows: A Festive Touch, The Cake Crumb, Bailey & B Photography, My Wedding Logos, University Book and Bean, Dan’s, On A Personal Note at Vintage Rose, Dianne Lisette Photography and C&K Entertainment.

The event is free to attend.
