As a part of the Racer Restart Initiative, the University addressed how Murray State will handle the athletics department in the fall.

According to the athletics portion of the Racer Restart Initiative, the athletic director will communicate NCAA and Conference policies to the University at large. The plan ensures there will be full adherence to University, state and national health guidelines and in compliance with the NCAA and Ohio Valley Conference guidelines.

Occupance of the weight rooms and training facilities will be scheduled beforehand for any student-athletes in order to better maintain social distancing guidelines and occupancy limits. The cleaning protocol for all athletics facilities will be established and updated in accordance with guidelines set by the NCAA, medical staff and the OVC.

The University’s department of athletics also plans to require fans and staff wear masks and other personal protective equipment during athletic events. It is highly recommended that attendants follow health guidelines that have been previously issued by the state and federal health departments.

Concession stands will continue to be cleaned and disinfected throughout the summer prior to the fall semester. The University’s restart program makes it clear these areas will also be thoroughly cleaned before and after usage when health officials give the green light for athletic events to occur.
