Racers upset in opening round of OVC Tournament

UT Martin stunned the Murray State women’s tennis team in the first round of the 2019 OVC tournament with a 4-3 victory, ending the Racers’ season.

Junior Anja Loncarevic and sophomore Stasya Sharapova dropped the first doubles set 2-6, and senior Amina Hadzic and junior Sara Loncarevic dropped a tough set 5-7 to give the Skyhawks the doubles point.

Junior Claire Chang and senior Jeanne Masson’s doubles set went unfinished with a score of 6-5.

Hadzic got the Racers’ first point on the board with a 6-0, 6-3 win in singles.

Anja Loncarevic dropped her set to give UT Martin their second point 3-6, 3-6.

Sharapova picked up another point for Murray State with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Sara Loncarevic followed suit with a 6-3, 6-3 win of her own.

Sophomore Aarja Chakraborty lost a hard-fought singles match with a score of 6-2, 7-6, 4-6. Chang also had a tough three set match with a score of 2-6, 3-6, 4-6, to cap the upset off for the Skyhawks.

The Racers finished the season with a record of with an overall record of 12-9 and an OVC record of 6-2.
