The Pilgrim family brings a new concept to Murray with the grand opening of their deli and cafe on 15th Street.

Gigabites Deli and Cafe opened their doors to customers for the first time Monday morning.

Andrew Pilgrim and his mother, Mary Beth Pilgrim, decided to put their ideas to action when they chose to move forward with their plans to open Gigabites.

Mary Beth, a retired teacher, said she has wanted to open a sandwich shop since she and her husband moved back to Kentucky, but she never pursued the idea until recently.

Andrew works as a freelance computer repairman. Originally he had planned to open a store, which combined computer repair and a café. However, he and his mother opted to blend their creativity with a deli and a cafe.

“I think this is something Murray has needed for a long time,” Andrew said.

He said it is somewhere people can just come to relax and hangout with coffee and good music.

Leah Eisenhower, senior from Pickneyville, Ill., said she will definitely frequent Gigabites, especially to do homework.
