Robbery takes place at Murray State

At approximately 12:10 a.m. Friday morning, three unknown subjects approached a victim South of the Carr Health Building on the campus.

One of the subjects was a light skinned male, black between the ages of 18-22. This suspect acted as if he had a weapon by keeping one hand behind his back, but did not show the victim a weapon. The suspect then demanded the victim’s money and took it without further incident. It is unknown at this time the descriptions of the other two suspects. After the robbery the suspects fled in a white pickup truck in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured.

Murray State police remind community members to be aware of their surroundings at all times and to take necessary safety precautions.

Murray State Police give the following suggestions, which may help prevent becoming the victim of a crime:

· Remain alert and watchful for suspicious activity

· Be alert for anything suspicious, especially two or more people just hanging around.

· If you sense something wrong, leave immediately.

· Remain calm. There is no need to bring undue attention to the situation. To do so could cause panic and endanger lives.

· Cooperate with the robber. Robbers seldom hurt people who are willing to cooperate.

· Observe what the robber looks like and develop a mental picture so that an accurate description can be given to the police.

· Don’t argue or fight with the robber. Any amount of money is not worth personal injury.
