Low-cost cleaning alternatives

•Sink, counter and shower: Mix 1/2 cup vinegar with a 1/4 cup baking soda into 1/2 gallon of water. Store it under the sink and wash with sponge or cloth just like any other cleaner.

•Windows: Add 1/4-1/2 tsp liquid detergent to 3 tbs of vinegar and 2 cups of water. Or mix 2 teaspoons of white vinegar with 1 liter of warm water. Use crumpled black and white newspaper or cotton cloth to clean.

•Mold: Mix one part hydrogen peroxide (3 percent) with two parts water in a spray bottle and spray on areas with mold. Wait at least one hour before rinsing or using shower.

•Stains: Spray white vinegar and water mixture and rinse with soapy hot water.

•Vinyl and linoleum floors: Mix a cup of vinegar with a few drops of baby oil in one gallon warm water.

Recipes were found at eartheasy.com and from my mother of about 22 years Christine Ruhlman
