The Racers made opportunities to score but couldn’t break the deadlock as they played to a 0-0 draw against Arkansas State on Aug. 25.
Murray State made 11 scoring chances during the game and had 5 of those shots on goal. Arkansas State created 15 chances and only three of those challenged sophomore goalkeeper Griselda Revelorio.
This was Revelorio’s first clean sheet of the 2024 campaign and the seventh of her career.
Forwards Breece Bass and Mackenzie Tucker, midfielder Tori Schrimpf and defender Megan Wilson all took two shots each, with five different Racers putting shots on goal and challenging Red Wolves junior keeper Damaris Deschaine.
Sunday’s match was the second time in the history of the series between the two schools that ended in a draw. The last time the teams drew was in 2016. The last meeting between the teams saw the Racers win 3-1 at Cutchin Field.
Racers head coach Matt Lodge said the team was tired after Thursday’s loss to Xavier, but was proud of the fight his team showed as they prepare for Missouri Valley Conference play.
“In terms of what [a draw] does in the league, that would essentially give us a point on the road—a big point on the road. So, I think we’ve got to take the positives; first clean sheet of the season [and] hopefully we can keep going from that,” Lodge said.
Murray State has five more matches before MVC play starts, with three of the next four being at home. The Racers host Austin Peay at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29.
