Murray State’s main and regional campuses are closing today at 12:30 p.m. and transferring to virtual classes through tomorrow due to severe weather.
Administration news sent a campus wide email regarding the upcoming severe weather:
“Based upon the most recent information received from the National Weather Service, our area is at the highest risk of severe storms this afternoon/evening (April 2). Damaging winds, large hail and possible tornadoes are all concerns which are forecasted to arrive in our area as early as 3:00 p.m. Storms and significant rainfall are expected to affect the area through Saturday (April 5) causing flash flooding. We urge everyone to exercise caution, stay safe and stay alert for possible severe weather conditions. Please try to avoid being outdoors or traveling; check forecasts and monitor road and weather conditions. We are tracking the weather closely and will keep you updated as necessary.
For the safety of our campus community, the Murray State University main campus and all regional campuses will operate on a remote basis effective at 12:30 p.m. today and all day tomorrow (Wednesday, April 2, and Thursday, April 3). This means that all classes that start at 12:30 or after today (April 2) will be remote, and all classes tomorrow will be remote. A decision on Friday’s schedule will be made within the next 24 hours.
Supervisors will be in contact with their staff to let them know who needs to physically report to the campus tomorrow, based on their job responsibilities.
All University buildings will be closed to the public today (after 12:30) and all day tomorrow with the exceptions noted below:
- Curris Center will be open for normal hours today and tomorrow
- Wellness Center will be open as normal and close at 9:00 p.m. both days
