After a 72-60 loss to Bradley in the quarterfinal round of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship tournament, Steve Prohm stepped down as head coach of the Murray State men’s basketball team.
Prohm ends his second stint as head coach of the Racers, finishing with a 45-52 record over the last three seasons. In those seasons, the highest the Racers finished in Valley play was sixth. Murray State finished 9-11 in conference play this year and had the seventh seed at Arch Madness.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Murray State is set to launch a national search for the next men’s basketball coach. He also said that Murray State has been atop the Missouri Valley in roster resources and looks to add to those in the 2025-26 season.
In Prohm’s first stint at Murray State, he led the Racers to four-straight Ohio Valley Conference championships and one NCAA Tournament appearance.
