Not a single goal was scored when the Racers visited the Evansville Purple Aces on Saturday, Sept. 26, despite 28 total shot attempts between both teams. Fifteen of the shots were taken by Murray State, with Breece Bass claiming five. Megan Wilson, Natalie Miller and Morgan Bodker each took two attempts, but were unable to secure a goal.
“Credit to Evansville today,” head coach Matt Lodge said. “I thought they played very well and took us out of our usual game. In league play, you have to value every point and today we got a point on the road.”
Griselda Revolorio put a third season clean sheet under her belt, defending Evansville’s 13 shots. She is now tied at third for most shutouts in program history with nine career shutouts.
The Racers return to Murray for their Missouri Valley Conference home opener against the University of Illinois Chicago Flames on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. CT.
“We have a quick turnaround, and we host a well-rested UIC team Thursday,” Lodge said. “We are excited to be back home and this will be our first two-game weekend this month, so we are eager to get back in the groove.”
