Former Murray State guard Quincy Anderson recently signed a one year rookie contract with the Landstede Hammers, located in Zwolle, Netherlands.
“Zwolle is great! It’s a very comfortable situation and the city provides a lot of natural beauty and historical architecture which is unique and fun to be around,” Anderson said. “Obviously soccer is the main sport in Europe, but basketball [culture] also seems to run deep through this region of the world and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
Anderson played two seasons with the Racers starting in 2022 after transferring from Minnesota State University – Mankato. He was a part of the Racers’ inaugural Missouri Valley Conference roster.
Anderson said he has never been overseas until this point and talked about how Murray State has helped prepare him for the start of his professional career.
“Murray State gave me the tools and mindset to approach my professional career with intensity and passion,” Anderson said. “I’m forever grateful for what Murray State has done for me.”
Anderson also said he knew he always wanted to play basketball professionally and “to live that dream is amazing.”
Anderson follows in the footsteps of many former Racers that have gone overseas to play professionally. He received advice from former players and staff to help him leading up to this moment.
“I’ve had a chance to talk to guys like Isaiah Canaan, Johnathan Fairell, and obviously Coach Marcus Brown, Donte Poole and TJ Sapp. All of whom have been able to help give me direction,” Anderson said. “All of my former coaches have continuously given me pieces of advice that will prepare me for this next step.”
Anderson said his goals currently are just to become the best version of himself and “eventually contribute to winning games.”
The Landstede Hammers first preseason game is scheduled for Aug. 24.
Over Anderson’s two year career at Murray State, the Oshkosh, WI native averaged 9.8 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game.
