It may be only a matter of time before Murray State and its fans can boast about another Racer athlete reaching the professional ranks.
Walter Powell, senior star wide receiver/return specialist, earned an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine Feb. 22-25 in Indianapolis, Ind. He is scheduled to work out Feb. 23.
The 6-foot, 187 pound senior and St. Louis, Mo., native is rated the 65th best wide receiver and 510th overall player in the nation, according to CBSSports.com
Powell will rely on agents Mook Williams and Brian Mclaughlin of Symmetry Reps to help him get ready for the NFL Draft May 8-10.
This season, Powell appeared in 10 games, catching 66 passes for 837 yards and 13 touchdowns.
He also averaged 11.6 yards on punt returns and 31.5 yards on kick returns.
