(Cadiz, Ky.) – Two North Carolina residents are dead after a collision on Interstate 24.
Kentucky State Police received a call about a single vehicle collision near the 61 mile marker on I-24 at 10:14 p.m. on Sunday.
A tractor trailer was traveling west on I-24 and for an unknown reason ran off the right shoulder of the roadway striking several trees before coming to final rest.
Both occupants of the semi, Joseph A. Robinson 34, of Wendell, N.C. and Larry D. Artis 55, of Wilson, N.C., were ejected and pronounced dead on the scene, by the Trigg County Coroner.
It is unknown at this time which occupant was operating the semi and if they were wearing seatbelts.
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, Trigg County Coroner, Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Trigg County EMS, Montgomery Fire Department and the Kentucky Transportation Department. The investigation is continuing by Trooper Jonathan Ward.
