I put together these sets (Polyvore’s term for a collage) of some of my favorite collections thus far into Fashion Week. With only two days left, and Elizabeth and James and Calvin Klein among others still to show, NYFW is winding down.
Peter Som: an American designer whom studied at Parson’s in NYC, has worked under Calvin Klein and Michael Kors. Quickly becoming one of the most sought after young designers of his era. He first debuted his Spring collection in 2001. Feminine beauties such as Michelle Obama and Scarlett Johansson are big fans of his designs.
Richard Chai Love: has worked under Marc by Marc Jacobs and was 2010 CFDA Designer of the Year-Men’s Wear. His Spring 2013 collection was very sporty and light. Lots of sheer light pieces with a mix of muted edgier tones.
Chris Benz: worked at J.Crew and Marc by Marc Jacobs before launching his own collection in 2007. No stranger to color and layering, his clothing is often featuring in Vogue and Elle. Chris describes his Spring collection as a “push and pull between scary and pretty”.
BCBG Max Azria: founded by Max Azria, born in Tunisia and educated in France. BCBG or “Bon chic, bon genre” Parisian slang for “good style, good taste”. Simple yet sexy is the norm for BCBG and that consisted of leather harnesses complementing sleek dresses. Celebs such as Whitney Port and Estelle adorned the front row.
*New York Fashion Week is semi annual and held each year in February and September. The four fashion cities are Paris, London, Milan, and New York.
