The Murray State department of English and philosophy invites students, faculty and the public to attend author Dinty W. Moore’s reading at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, in Clara M. Eagle Art Gallery on the sixth floor of the Price Doyle Fine Arts Building.
Moore is the author of several books including The Mindful Writer: Noble Truths of the Writing Life, The Accidental Buddhist, The Emperor’s Virtual Clothes, a writing guide called Crafting the Personal Essay: A Guide for Writing and Publishing Creative Nonfiction and a memoir, Between Panic and Desire, which was awarded the Grub Street Nonfiction Book Prize in 2009.
He has also published essays and stories in The New York Times Sunday Magazine, The Southern Review, The Philadelphia Inquirer Magazine, Harpers, The Georgia Review and elsewhere. Moore is a professor and director of creative writing in the B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. creative writing program at Ohio University.
The reading is free and open to the public. After the reading, a reception will take place at Faculty Club, located at 309 North 14th Street in Murray, between Woods Hall and Racer Arena. During the reception, there will be book signings and books will be available for purchase on site.
