Jerry Wayne Walker is no longer the assistant principal at Paducah Middle School. According to the Paducah Sun, Paducah Public Schools has terminated Jerry Walker’s contract.
Walker was acquitted on July 18, 2012 of arson, manslaughter, assault and wanton endangerment charges. The charges were in connection to the Hester Hall dorm fire at Murray State in 1998. He pled guilty to six tampering with evidence charges related to the crime. A plea agreement diverted a 10-year sentence for five years and left Walker with no convictions on his record.
Assistant Superintendent Donald Shively told the Paducah Sun he could not explain the reasons behind Walker’s firing, citing personal issues. Shively did say no criminal charges were associated with the termination and none have been filed.
Walker has appealed the decision. A hearing has not yet been scheduled.

He shouldn't be anywhere near a school system.

He shouldn't be allowed to teach considering his carelessness cost someone their life.
