Murray State student Clayton Law died early Sunday morning after being shot in the head with a handgun at the new Alpha Sigma Phi house at 911 North 16th Street.
Mike Young, vice president of Student Affairs and Alpha Sigma Phi adviser said, Law, who was an Alpha Sigma Phi member was making plans for today, tomorrow and this summer.
“What I know is I personally spoke with him last week about his class schedule for fall,” Young said. “That doesn’t sound like anyone who is going to check out.”
Young said Law was looking forward to his first summer on campus.
“What I know about people checking out, is they do not have plans,” Young said. “I know about Clayton, he had plans, he was excited about being here this summer and living in the house.”
Young said Law’s life is to be celebrated; it was short.
Law was a political science major and worked on campus at Fast Track.
Calloway County Coroner Ricky Harris said the state medical examiner will perform an autopsy and the results will be available in the next week or two.
Young said Alpha Sigma Phi will host a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wrather Museum.
Murray Police Department said the investigation is pending.
