With 62% of the vote, Gary ZeRuth is elected Faculty Regent to the Board of Regents for the next academic year.
This came after Melony Shemberger, the incumbent regent, decided not to run for another term, resulting in many campaigning for the position.
Zeruth, associate professor of cellular and molecular biology, ran his campaign on issues like competitive compensation and establishing transparent communication across Murray State University.
The official results from the runoff election, provided to the Murray State News, declares ZeRuth the new faculty regent with 186 votes (62%), over David Roach’s 116 (38%).
