Murray State’s rifle team finished eighth overall and freshman Carlotta Salafia placed fourth individually at the NCAA Rifle Championships at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky on March 14-15, 2025.
To wrap up the 2025 season, the Racers fired a 2371 in air rifle and 2322 in smallbore for an aggregate of 4693 for an eighth place finish out of fifteen qualifying teams. The top eight teams in both smallbore and air rifle qualify for the NCAA championships based on the average of their three highest regular-season aggregate scores.
Salafia scored a 207.2 in air rifle, which secured her fourth place finish out of 44 competitors.
Salafia led the Racers overall with a 598. Her senior teammates Scott Patterson, John Blanton, Allison Henry and Zach Jackson rounded out their final collegiate competition scoring 594, 590, 589 and 587 respectively.
“The team worked hard. Just getting here is a win,” Head Coach Alan Lollar told GoRacers.com. “We got to play on the last day. Only eight teams get to do that. I’m extremely proud of this team and what we accomplished.”
This marked the Racers’ 36th time to visit the NCAA Championship stage out of 70 seasons of competition and their fifth consecutive and 19th time winning the conference championship.
