For the fifth straight year, Murray State Rifle are the Ohio Valley Conference champions.
The team shot a season-high aggregate score of 4728 to beat Morehead State and UT Martin to claim an 11th OVC title under Head Coach Alan Lollar.
Senior John Blanton took the top overall spot with a season-high aggregate of 1188. Blanton’s 589 smallbore score was also a season-high, while his 599 in air rifle is tied for his season-high, which he shot at the Withrow Invitational on Jan. 17.
Freshman Carlotta Salafia finished second overall with an aggregate of 1183. Salafia fired a 588 in smallbore and a 595 in air rifle, which was third in both categories.
Senior Scott Patterson finished in the third and final podium spot with an 1180 aggregate score. He finished fifth in smallbore with a 584 and second in air rifle, just behind Blanton, with a 596.
Senior Zach Jackson finished just off the podium in fourth with an 1176 aggregate. His 589 in smallbore put him first in the category. He finished eighth in air rifle with a 588 score.
Murray State Rifle now turns their attention to their NCAA Qualifiers, which take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22.
