The Racers put together an impressive performance at the Withrow Invitational on Sunday morning, recording a total score of 4725. Their aggregate consisted of a 2345 in smallbore and a 2380 in air rifle.
The team’s standout was senior John Blanton, who finished in fourth place overall with a combined score of 1184. Blanton, who posted a 585 in smallbore and a career-best 599 in air rifle, expressed his satisfaction with the results.
“The team did good, practice translated to the match well this week,” Blanton said. “The PR in the air felt rewarding; hard work has been paying off.”
Freshman Carlotta Salafia, a native of Pezzana, Italy, finished fifth overall with a total of 1183. Salafia’s score came from a solid 587 in smallbore and a 596 in air rifle, showcasing her consistency across both disciplines.
Senior Zach Jackson rounded out the Racers’ top performers, claiming ninth place overall with a season-high aggregate of 1180. Jackson’s performance included a career-best 591 in air rifle and a season-best 589 in smallbore, reflecting his continued growth and improvement in both events.
In addition, junior Grace Foley and freshman Isabelle Gratz also achieved personal milestones. Foley registered a season-high 589 in air rifle, while Gratz fired a season-high 586 in smallbore, contributing to the team’s strong overall showing.
Emma Rhode of Nebraska emerged as the top individual shooter, earning an aggregate score of 1193, while Kentucky claimed the team title with a total of 4731, edging out Murray State for the top spot.
