Women’s Basketball conquered Northern Iowa 95-89 on the road in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on Thursday, Jan. 16. The Racers used their momentum to top Drake 81-59 in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, Jan. 18, to secure a sweep of Missouri Valley Conference schools in Iowa. The Racers stand along Belmont as the only two teams in the league that sit at 6-1 in conference play.

Senior guard Ava Learn earned her sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and a career-high 19 rebounds. Sophomore Haven Ford led the scoresheet with 27 points, going 9-for-10 on the free throw line. Halli Poock followed with 21 points and four assists.
After going 3-for-3 on three point attempts, freshman Braxcynn Baker is now shooting 48 percent in conference play behind the arc. Briley Pena made her mark going 2-for-2 at the three point line, while Destiny Thomas stuffed the stat sheet with four points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Katelyn Young boasted nine points and five rebounds.
Murray State’s Ford, Poock and Young are three of the top five scorers in the MVC. The Racers handed the Panthers their second home loss of the season.
Jan. 18 @ Drake
Katelyn Young took the reins against Drake, leading the team with 26 points, going 10-12 on the floor, and gaining seven assists. This is Young’s 29th game scoring 25 or more points and it is also a season high.
Ava Learn collected her seventh double-double of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Halli Poock scored 19 points and had four assists.
Murray State is now 12-0 when they score 80 or more points this season.
The Racers will return home to the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky, on Friday, Jan. 24 to host Indiana State and Sunday, Jan. 26 to play Evansville.
