Part of the University has been without power since 11 a.m. today and likely won’t be restored until later this evening.
The residential halls, the CFSB Center, the Wellness Center and Winslow Dining Hall, located on the right side of Chestnut Street, are currently without power due to a transformer malfunctioning.
Murray State Public Relations sent an email to the campus regarding adaptations until the power is restored. Here is the statement:
“The residence halls, Wellness Center, Winslow Dining Hall and the CFSB Center are currently without power. Contractors are on site now, and we hope to have power restored as soon as possible but will likely be into the evening hours. Thank you for your patience.
Residence hall water pressure will be very low on upper floors, causing toilets to not function. Please use lobby restrooms if possible. Other temporary restroom facilities are being planned for delivery to each residence hall.
Residents with medical needs should contact residence hall staff for assistance.
Winslow will be serving food this evening, has restrooms that are functioning, and has emergency power only.
The Curris Center T-Room will be serving this evening. Chick-fil-A will be serving as well. Curris Center is fully operational with cooling and lights.
Wellness Center restrooms are functioning and have emergency lighting only.
Thank you, again, for your patience as we work to restore power as soon as possible.”
The News will have continuing coverage of this situation throughout the evening and following days.
