Murray State women’s golf hosted the second annual Velvet Championship in Paducah, Kentucky, at the Country Club of Paducah on Sept. 16-17
The Racers finished fifth at the event, posting a score of 938 over 54 holes of golf. Sophomore Patti Patterson finished eighth with a score of 228.
Freshman Tina von Arx rounded at the top-20 with a score of 235 across three rounds played.
The event is named after 2024 Murray State Hall of Fame selection, Velvet Milkman. She launched the women’s golf program at Murray State in 1993 and was the head coach of the team until she retired in 2022.
The Racers’ next event is the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Missouri, at Old Hawthorne Country Club on Sept. 23-24. On Oct. 6-7, Murray State will take on Austin Peay in the Battle of the Border Match Play in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, at the Hopkinsville Country Club.
