It was an exciting weekend for the Murray State men’s golf team as they competed in the Murray State Invitational in Dickson, Tennessee, on Monday, April 5, and Tuesday, April 6, with two seniors winning the low-round honors at the Greystone Golf Club.
As a team, the Racers shot a line of 289-296-294—879, placing sixth out of 15 teams in the competition.
Seniors Connor Coombs and Austin Knight made the lowest score in the first and third round of the tournament with a three-under-par 69. Austin Knight swung a line of 72-76-69—217 and placed 18th as the Racers’ best finisher with senior Avery Edwards falling right behind in 27th on rounds of 74-73-74—221.
Coombs and senior Quinn Eaton tied 38th place with ordered scores of 69-72-82—223 and 74-75-74—223. Freshman Tyler Powell shot a line of 75-78-77—230 and placed 60th for the Racers.
Individually, two players competed as individual players for the tournament. Sophomore Walker Beck carded scores of 73-76-83—232 and placed 67th while sophomore Carson Holmes placed 31st with scores of 76-72-74—222.
The Racers will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, for the Big Blue Intercollegiate on Monday, April 12, and Tuesday, April 13.
