The Murray State volleyball team will return to the Racer Arena to take on UT Martin in a two game series on Sunday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. and Monday, March 1, at 4 p.m.
The last time the Racers faced the Skyhawks was on Nov. 21, 2019, in Jacksonville, Alabama at the OVC Tournament quarterfinals, where the Racers swept UT Martin in three sets (25-22, 25-20, 25-19).
Before winning the OVC quarterfinals, the Racers faced the Skyhawks at the Skyhawk Fieldhouse, where Murray State fell in five sets. (25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 22-25, 13-15).
The Racers are coming off a 19-11 overall record from the 2019 season and 12-4 in the OVC, while the Skyhawks finished the season with a 13-19 overall record and 9-7 in the conference.
This season, however, the Racers are 2-4 in the OVC, while the Skyhawks are sitting at 4-1.
Head Coach David Schwepker said the Racers need to improve their offense and fix their mistakes in order to win games.
“In volleyball, offense wins and we just don’t have that right now,” Schwepker said. “There’s no magic to it. We make too many errors over and over again and until we fix those errors, we won’t be able to win games.”
