Staff Report
Murray State faculty, staff and students are required to complete the Racer Safe and Healthy Checklist before returning to campus.
The checklist is available on the myGate homepage under Racer Restart. The entire campus community, including faculty, staff and students at all regional campuses, must complete the checklist.
In an email on July 2, President Bob Jackson said the purpose of this mandatory checklist is to help protect the safety and health of the campus community and must be used in conjunction with daily self-health assessments done via the COVID-19 Apple app here or a similar type of COVID-19 screening app.
“Taking personal responsibility now to be as safe and healthy as possible is of the utmost importance as we collectively prepare for a successful Fall 2020 Semester,” Jackson said in the email.
The checklist asks if the individual has any symptoms of COVID-19, has come in contact with someone who has tested positive for the coronavirus, has traveled to a CDC designated domestic hot spot or has traveled internationally in the last 30 days.
Faculty and staff currently working on campus or returning in July, are required to complete the checklist by July 10. Faculty, staff and students returning to campus for the fall semester must complete the checklist by Aug. 1.
After initial completion, the checklist must also be completed by all faculty and staff returning in-person on the first day of each month during the fall 2020 semester.
“Murray State will continue to encourage our campus community to monitor any and all areas that the state of Kentucky and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have designated as ‘hot spots’ where COVID-19 cases are rising,” Shawn Touney, director of communication said. “Faculty, staff and students may be advised to either self-quarantine, consult with a healthcare provider or be tested before returning to campus if traveling to certain locations for the health, safety and well-being of our campus community.”
Any faculty, staff or student should immediately notify Health Services/Primary Care or a medical provider if they become symptomatic or feel they have been exposed to COVID-19.
“Also, please continue to adhere to the MSU Racer Safe and Healthy Guidelines and visit our Racer Restart website to read the University’s restart plans and other updates,” Jackson said in the email.
