The Murray State women’s track and field team was named an All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2018-19 school year.
Senior team member Aubrey Main of Huntingburg, Indiana was also recognized by the USTFCCCA as an All-Academic Individual for having at least a 3.25 GPA and placing in the top 96 in a nationwide event, which Main earned for the indoor pentathlon.
Head coach Adam Kiesler said he was proud of these awards.
“We are extremely proud of the team and especially Aubrey for their Academic All-American accomplishments,” Kiesler said. “The team worked extremely hard throughout the year to maintain a high GPA, which also helped MSU Athletics as a whole stay over a 3.0 for 30 consecutive semesters. I am happy for Aubrey that this award could cap off such a great career on the track and now in the classroom. She has worked hard and deserves the recognition.”
Main is one of only four female OVC athletes to earn the award. The last Racer who was recognized as an All-Academic Individual was track and field senior Ashley Conway in 2015.
The Racers were included in the six OVC teams and 227 NCAA D-1 women’s teams to receive the honor.
